On the way to the YMCA tonight, Kyley asked a strange, yet thoughtful question... "Mom , when you go to the store to get a new car, how do you get your other car home?"
#1. where in the world did that question come from...yes, we did drive by a car dealership a few minutes beforethe question was asked, but other than that, I have no clue where she could've come up with that question.
#2. What 5 year old thinks about things like that? Wouldn't you agree that 5-year-olds shouldn't be able to come up with adstract thoughts like that?
Just thought I would share how smart she is!

An afternoon at home...
The girls and I came home about 1 this afternoon to wait for the plumber to come look at our dishwasher again. Sure enough...it has a leak, so we will be getting a new one from our landlord soon (I hope). This is the second afternoon I have been home with a plumber in the past 3 days because the 1st plumber didn't find anything and then my kitchen flooded. HA! I am over handwashing dishes and piling them up on my tvery limited counter space.
The good new is...we are already home and I think we will have plenty of time to visit the YMCA this evening.

Molly class update
We started our new Pre-school and PreK this week and the girls seem to really be enjoying it. Molly's teachers send me daily emails at about 3:00 to update us on what she and her friends have been doing.
Here is what today's email said: (below). I can't get the pictures to up-load beccause it is in a word document, but they also send pictures of what Molly is doing in class... love it. Kyley's teacher hasn't done this yet, but I am going to ask about it.

· Welcome to Preschool 2 and Bright Horizons Molly Atkinson and her family.
· Jefferson County Schools Spring Break is the week of April 4-8, 2011, if your child will be out any this week please let us know so that we are able to staff accordingly.
· As the days get warmer some of the friends may need sunscreen and bug spray, if not already done so we have sunscreen and insect repellant permission slips. We will be using Coopertone Water Babies sunscreen lotion SPF50, but if you have special sunscreen lotion please feel free to bring it in for your child.
Kid Fit
The friends continued talking about their bones and did many exercises to get their bones moving and their blood flowing.
Story (Language Works)
Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss
Hurray for Spring by Patricia Hubbell
A little boy celebrates spring by doing activities such as swinging, playing in puddles, planting seeds, observing ants, worms, rabbits, and red-winged blackbirds.
Math The friends used fruit loops to sort in colors (red, blue, green, orange, yellow, and purple) and to count.
Creative Expression
The friends used colored fruit loops, green leaves, and a brown steam to make a flower.
Centers
Some of the friends dressed up in their Princess costumes and went “sight seeing”, while some of the other friends built a forest for their dinosaurs to live.

Meme and Papa visit: TRAINS!
Papa G brought the entire train set from Houston and helped the girls build the best train track yet! It was HUGE! The girls were so excited to play with the trains with Papa (just like they did at his house before we moved to Kentucky). Nice job Papa...it was a hit!
Papa and Meme Visist: Dominoes
The girls taught Meme and Papa how to play dominoes...you know it's really just a matching game if you don't keep score!

Rough day for Meme
Mom has had a really bad day in Kentucky... we will keep you posted one way or another but suffice it to say she may have food poisoning and a broken wrist. Hopefully not, but Darryn and Dad have taken her to the ER to get an xray. Probably not how she was hoping to spend the evening here! :(

Busy week
Well, I have officially lived up to Darryn's prediction...only doing this for a few weeks and then falling off! Sorry guys!
It has been a pretty eventful week or so around here...well at least in the decision making department. Darryn and I have spent most of the evenings in the past week looking into into new daycares. I have gone and visited a couple. It all started a week ago monday, when I walked into the daycare to pick up the girls and 2 little boys had stolen Kyley's boots and were throwing them around the room. ANother little boy was holding an adult sized chair over his head. And all of the 3-5 year olds were in the same room. YIKES! I got the girls, walked into the office and told the girl at the desk that she needed to go check on the class, because the teacher had lost control.
I am sure I have already told you that the girls aren't eating all that well either at the current school.
So this unsafe environment pushed up the importance of finding another daycare on the priority list.
We found one called Bright Horizons about 4 blocks away from my work. It is where Susie (the research lady) sent her little girl and I was so happy to find out that they work on basic reading and handwriting skills in the pre-K classroom. Now, they still serve tuna cassarole every once in a while...I am thinking that must be a Kentucky thing at this point, because every school I visisted had tuna cassarole on the menu this week!
We are also looking at sending Kyley to summer day camps at the YMCA. No final decision, but the look like they could be tons of fun for her. Every week is dedicated to a different sport.
Finally, we signed the whole family up for YMCA membership and we signed both of the gilrs up for soccer. If you get bored, you should goolge the Louisville Northeast YMCA and look at the AWESOME pool that we are so excited about using! The girls and Darryn went to visit the Y tonight. They got to see the pool and play in the kids area while Darryn played basketball for a few minutes. Sounds like they had TONS of fun!
